UK audio site HF&MS.com has published one of the first reviews of the MELCO (now rebranded as DELA) flagship network switch S1. Reviewer Chris Baillie praised the S1 as a major upgrade for high-end digital audio systems, writing:
“My system already sounded great before the S1’s arrival, but the newly found realism, dynamics, resolution and free-floating soundstage will be hard to lose.”
The S1 is a ground-up design dedicated to reducing network noise, featuring a custom linear power supply, NDK clock, and flexible connectivity options including SFP and RJ45 ports with switchable speeds. Review highlights include a dramatic lowering of the noise floor, enhanced dynamic range, and an expansive, analogue-like soundstage across a wide variety of recordings.
While positioned at the top of the market, Baillie concludes the S1 is “one of the best upgrades you can make to your digital front end,” especially when paired with DELA’s N1 or N5 servers.
